Smart money says... "Buy Candles"

Lots and lots of candles.

-- TORONTO -- The Ontario government is suspending its plans to build the province's first new nuclear reactors in a generation, citing concerns about cost overruns and uncertainty surrounding the future of Crown-owned Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd.

Just last year, the government said it would have two new reactors up and running by July, 2018 at its Darlington nuclear station in Clarington, a fast-growing community about 80 kilometres east of Toronto.
Okay... Yellow Pages... generators, generators...

What a suckhole. Its a tragety that Ontario with the resources available in terms of both uranium and hydro has to purchase energy externally.

People bitch about the idiocy of McSquinty but in my honest opinion his true failure is his lack of a comprehensive and realistic energy plan (windmills aren't going to cut it).

Yet the Ontario liberals are spending wads of our cash on a solar farm in Simcoe County that will cost 50 subsidized cents plus per kilowatt produced. While making a large tract of prime farmland useless for producing food. And as a bonus the neighbours have no rights to prevent this feel good solar farm plunking down next door to them.

The future looks grim with these guys in charge, people will have to seriously consider generators, battery banks and other forms of power. Wood fires, gas generators and oil furnaces are hard on the environment but Liberals don't seem to care.

here at "the halls" we heat with wood... we'll make it through just fine with help from a backup generator.

otoh... toronto goes a week without power it'll be total anarchy.

the whole city will burn to the ground.
