Apparently, according to Paula & CTV... it's the government's responsibility to keep these irresponsible dumbsticks out of racetracks and casinos. There's even some dufus who put himself on an exclusion list and successfully sued the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Commission for not saving him... from himself.

The leader of a radical Islamist group involved in a shootout with Hamas in Gaza is one of at least 22 people killed in the raid, reports say.

Hamas fighters on Friday fired rocket-propelled grenades at Ibn-Taymiyah mosque, where at least 100 Jund Ansar Allah supporters were holed up. About 120 people were injured, with some in a critical condition.

-- TORONTO -- Police are still seeking one gunman after a 25-year-old Toronto man was arrested yesterday for shooting a man outside of a mid-rise complex area with families and children nearby.

The victim, Zabiullah Mojaddedi, 22, intervened in a robbery in front of 47 Gilder Dr. near Eglinton Avenue East shortly after 8 p.m. on Aug. 5. Police say two suspects tried to rob two of Mr. Mojaddedi's acquaintances.

Today, Tristan Lall appeared briefly in court, charged with first-degree murder. The second suspect is described as a black male who is 5'4 to 5'6 with a medium build and collar-length hair worn in braids.

But, but, but... I don't understand... wasn't this guy under a lifetime ban from possessing weapons? Why... he's just not playing by the rules!!!!

It is important to note that, whatever the current number of homicides are in Toronto... there have been over 150 shootings and over 200 victims to date.

Again... if it wasn't for Level III paramedics and all these assholes turning their cheap-ass Saturday Night Specials' sideways, like in their favourite rap video... the carnage would be much, much worse.

The man was sitting on his porch south of Black Creek Dr. and Weston Rd. when he was shot in the leg around 5:30 p.m., Toronto Police Sgt. Larry Cowl said.

Zenovique Wilson, 23, Miss Toronto Tourism 2005, is to appear Monday for a bail hearing at College Park court. The lovely Zenovique was arrested 4 p.m. Tuesday near Jane St. and Sheppard Ave. W.

Jamar Francis, 20, of Toronto, and Clayton McFarlane, 27, of Brampton, were arrested with the former pageant queen.

Ontario taxpayers are paying the lion's share of a $1.4-billion plan to rebuild and maintain a Toronto hospital, including renovating the historic Don Jail building into stunning new office space for administrators.

The deal is being funded through Infrastructure Ontario, a public agency overseen by Public Infrastructure Minister George Smitherman, who as a former health minister used to complain about tax dollars being spent on "Taj Ma-Hospitals."

Assailants armed with arrows, spears and machetes killed a Scottish-born geologist in an apparent dispute over mining rights in southeastern Kenya, police said today.

Campbell Bridges, 72, was attacked by about a dozen people Tuesday after stopping to remove a log on the road as he drove to a camp in a mining area near Tsavo West National Park, said local Deputy Police Chief John Leshindoro.

After an interminable search process, the Green Party leader has decided to seek a seat in (drumroll; cue lights...) the B.C. riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands.

According to the Vancouver Sun’s Barabara Yaffe, May reached her conclusion after losing previous efforts in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Her decision is revealed with all the usual May humility. Rather than waste time trying to compete in all 308 federal seats, all efforts from here in will be concentrated on getting May elected.

Fresh off her disastrous dalliance with the Axis of Weasels... ol' Lizzie is already churnin' out the pre-election bluster...

“The Greens need to be in the House of Commons ... And I’ve got the best chance of anyone to do it,” she tells Yaffe.

Maybe she shouldn’t be planning the victory parade just yet. The Greens may need Elizabeth May in the House of Commons. It remains in considerable doubt whether voters in Saanich feel the same way.

Funny how, with Lizzie, it's always all about "mirror, mirror"...

In any case, she once again looked far more interested in finding a place in Ottawa for the one-woman Elizabeth May Party, rather than the Greens she is supposed to represent.

You know how it is with doctors. First they see patients and the next thing you know they want to diagnose, treat and cure them. Apparently these clowns think money grows on trees, unlike our thrifty eHealth consultants.

The problem is with all this -- ugh! -- treatment going on, you then have to hire more nurses and hospital technicians and pay for more tests, equipment and beds. It's a vicious circle.

Heck, I'd engineer a doctor shortage to save money if Bob Rae hadn't beat me to it two decades ago.

Former eHealth Ontario chief executive officer Sarah Kramer landed the top job at the troubled agency after Premier Dalton McGuinty directly intervened in her appointment, over the objections of some of his own civil servants.

Ms. Kramer did not have to go through the normal channels government agencies use to find a chief executive officer. And Mr. McGuinty was directly involved in her hiring, according to sources close to the situation.

But there's always two sides to a story, right?

Ms. Kramer could not be located for comment.

Jane Almeida, a spokeswoman for Mr. McGuinty, declined to discuss the Premier's involvement in the matter.

A Health Ministry spokeswoman said Tuesday that Dr. Hudson is not available for comment.

Belleville City Council decides to...

A former strip club in the city's east end may get a second lease on life thanks to a decision made by council regarding the municipality's adult entertainment bylaw pending provincial licensing approval.

Prior to discussing the bylaw, however, council heard from brothers Carlos and Robert Moniz, current owners of Doc's Palace. The pair told council they recently signed a lease with a Russian businessman who has plans of renovating and reopening the Station Street location.

Apparently... you can never have too many strippers.
