Hoofbeats, Horses & Zebras... again

I'm sure this makes me "A Bad Person™"... but when I heard reports of a woman meandering through the streets of Moscow with a bloody, dripping severed head, my thoughts most decidedly did not immediately turn to Lutherans, Jehovah's Witnesses or even those hateful freaks at the Westboro Baptist Church...the child killersChalk up another one for the Religion of (Severed) Pieces.

RELATED: In other "not about Islam" news

A handwritten will by Osama bin Laden said he had a fortune of "about 29 million dollars" and that most of it should be spent "on Jihad," according to documents released by the U.S. government on Tuesday.

And Bill has a point...
Asked about the strike that killed 16-year-old American citizen Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, Robert Gibbs, a senior adviser to President Obama's reelection campaign suggests he should've "had a more responsible father."
Remember, this is the same President who freed Omar Khadr from Gitmo and shoved him down Canada's throat.

It would be unfair to blame religion. Most religious people tend to not be violent.
Hmmm... perhaps you need to do a little more research...

I can't fathom the depth of maniacal hatred in this woman that would be vindicated by murdering/decapitating an innocent child - this is a depth of evil which defies reason.

This woman was obviously in psychosis but it was the Islamic radicalization conditioning which triggered this crime. I have always maintained that Islamic immigration would be benign if we banned the institutionalized hate that drives radical/insane religious crimes.

I trust Russia will respond correctly to individual acts of domestic Islamic jihad with definitive penalty.

russia will respond as it always does... cringingly cruel, unquestionably illegal and wildly inappropriate violence.

remember when there was the big international stink about russia capturing somali pirates illegally in international waters? russia waited a few hours and then issued a "correction" that stated the navy had not in fact done any of that and that russia had no knowledge of any somali citizens.

nobody ever heard of them (the pirates) again.

I miss the point Neo- Russia liquidates Pirates and terrorists - this is bad? THey don't do this to russians so if there is a little soviet era totality reflex left they are channeling it in the right direction - I will add that US and NATO based black ops have their share of atrocities as well and increasingly agains their own citizens - which kinda makes current US national security polcy where the soviets were in the 70s

of course they do. the raid that killed osama bin-laden was basically an act of war. if pakistan had sent a spec-ops team to britain or america to hit salman rushdie, we could have seen cruise missiles rearranging downtown islamobad.

note that under hussein obama drone strikes in the middle east have increased fivefold over the bush years. curiously no cares about collateral damage (all those dead kids, right?) any more.

don luigi obama also put rocket-propelled cement overshoes on an american citizen (anwar al-awlaki) and his 16 year old american-born son (abdulrahman al-awlaki) 2 weeks later to create an interesting legal precedent.

i wasn't making a value judgement about russia... simply stating fact.

i guess that's the point.

Pretty horrific story. Like the article says people need to be much more careful when choosing a nanny and making sure their mental state is stable.

We Kewel on Russia den. ;-)

I figure soviet imperialism is equal to US/NATO imperialism - They both destabilize other nations and use common people like disposable pawns in their pathetic global chess games.

The one policy in my pragmatic libertarianism that I am linear with the Libertarian ideologists, is that any government claiming to represent its people should pick its fights carefuly, and ony fight when there is a direct attack on the nation -you keep your nose out of other peoples scraps and you never meddle in other nations affairs - call it sef aware isolationism if you will.

Far too many pointless wars.

"montrealmarek says... be much more careful when choosing a nanny"

that's the lesson you got out of this horrific story? seriously?

how about... ah-hem, employing a devotee of a medieval, bloodsoaked theocracy that advocates the murder of individuals who do not belong to said group to care for your children may not be in your family's best interest.

Well. Russia is not a model country. It is not a place of law and order so you are pretty much on your own most of the time. It would be wise to be on your guard at all times because you can't really expect much from anyone else.
I think this woman is mentally ill. It would be unfair to blame religion. Most religious people tend to not be violent. It doesn't help that there are religious extremist that promote violence and they find an audience with the mentally ill.

marek, i agree this woman is obviously mentally ill.

that said, any exposure to any sort of media tells you that there are horrific & violent events being perpetrated worldwide on a daily basis in the name of religion.

what religion is responsible for the preponderance of that violence? i'll give you a hint... it ain't the presbyterians.
