-- WEST VANCOUVER, B.C. -- Police in Metro Vancouver have seized another armoured car they say is linked to gangs. Can you say "Bogotá"?
West Vancouver Police say the seizure happened last Friday at a routine traffic stop when officers found a vehicle equipped with bullet resistant windows and ballistic armour.
Last month, Vancouver police said they had seized two armoured cars linked to gang activity as part of a crackdown that followed a string of fatal shootings.

Put away the tazers and set up the IEDs.
Leave Vancouver alone, alright? Vancouver is cool.

Resident troll "Nixie" thinks a dead 14 year-old girl is funny... Nixon's Ghost said... I bet the murderer was a fucking liberal bastard commie fuck!

Since when is adding protective armour to your car illegal? "The alterations left it in violation of the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act." How? This is the most bogus thing I've read all day.

"Frank Hilliard said... Since when is adding protective armour to your car illegal?"
frank... good point.
the way things are headed, this may be next years most popular factory option... after gps.
it's a little disturbing though, when you couple it with the recent taser frenzy which seeks to remove "use of force" options from our police departments.
on a similar note, it's probably not illegal to own body armour... but i don't think i'd try wearing it to do my banking.
what's the solution here?

That's a good question. When you consider that the vast majority of body armour purchasers in Colombia are business people trying to avoid being kidnapped by thugs, making body armour a crime seems to me to be inviting gangsters to get on with their work.
So I guess this doesn't apply to visiting dignitaries, eh? Still OK for them to go around surrounded by armed guards, but for we poor peons, nada.
