How many social workers...

...can you hire for 44.6 million dollars...insert alt text here

"City of Toronto has applied to the federal government for a $32.6 million grant Tuesday, which will go toward funding programs intended to curb gun violence. This follows Tory's promise two weeks ago to allocate $12 million of the city's own budget to several initiatives to tackle gangs and gun violence."
Curb? Seriously!!!? Try telling that to Eaton Centre shooter Christopher Husbands... the beneficiary of one such pie in the sky program...
"Husbands was also supervising children at a City of Toronto-run facility from November 2011 to May 2012 while on $4,000 house arrest bail for the sexual assault."
Just something to consider the next time you sit down to pay your skyrocketing taxes.

BREAKING: ••• "GET ME A SOCIAL WORKER, STAT!!!"insert alt text here
"Gunfire just east of the Don Valley Parkway near Dundas Street East has sent a male victim to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews were called to the area of Kintyre Avenue and Munro Street at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday."

SIGN OF THE TIMES:insert alt text here
Emergency-care nurses are gearing up to offer “active-shooter” first-aid courses to the public in Vancouver. Stop the Bleed teaches ordinary people to stop massive bleeding that would kill a victim long before first-responders arrive.
Just spitballin' here... but wouldn't a course in... how to overcome your revulsion and give mouth to mouth to an HIV-positive junkie suffocating on his own vomit... be a little more useful here?

Why not allow those in the public who are willing to carry a weapon?
The casualties will drop if the criminal with the gun thinks there is a chance they will get shot.
A fact.

ah, bob... you're preaching to the converted.
back in the eighties, i waas one of a few
dozen canadian ipsc shooters who had carry
permits for new york state.

not something to be done lightly. you were
conscious of the responsibility all the time.
not for everyone... and certainly not
something a canadian government would ever
entertain.
