An arrest has been made following the abduction and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl early today. And he's been on the bubble before...
Charged is Stanley James Tippett, 32, of Collison Cresc., Peterborough.
In an interview with the Toronto Star in June 1999, Tippett confirmed that he was a suspect in the case of Sharmini Anandavel, a 15-year-old girl who went missing on June 12, 1999 and whose remains were found four months later. And the fun just didn't stop.
Tippett said at the time he had been interviewed, his home and car searched and followed by the police.
In December, 2005, Tippett was sentenced to two years in a federal penitentiary for criminal harassment and breach of a court order.**********
RELATED: It's unanimous
Stanley Tippett's mother, 54-year-old Susan Anderson of Cavan, said she's ashamed of her son and only came to court to support her daughter-in-law.**********
"I'm considering him not my son," Anderson said. "Lock him in jail and throw away the key. I'm an ashamed woman. I'm ashamed to be his mother."
"It just makes me sick," Anderson said.
LAST WORD: All in the family
In January, Mr. Tippett’s brother, Jeffrey, goes to trial in Newfoundland in the second-degree murder of an 11-month-old boy, Tameron Rose, who died in early 2007.*
