Lebanon: Political correctness may not be the answer

The president must be Christian, the prime minister a Sunni Muslim and the speaker of parliament a Shia Muslim. Parliamentary seats are equally divided between Muslims and Christians.
And how's that working out for you so far?
It is not the first time the country has been mired in violence. Between 1975 and the early 1990s a civil war killed as many as 100,000 and left much of Lebanon and its economy in ruins.
Call me crazy, but how about losing the geopolitical "affirmative action" & having the chips fall where they may? It sure couldn't make things worse.
