Boniface bails...

Here is the logical conclusion to the warm, fuzzy reign of OPP Commissioner Gwen Boniface.
The embattled commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police is resigning her post, but not because of recent criticism of how the force has handled the aboriginal standoff in Caledonia, the province's community safety minister said Friday.

Community Safety Minister Monte Kwinter said her decision was both a personal and professional one. Despite the fact that Boniface had recently signed a three-year contract, Kwinter said the Irish government made her an offer she couldn't refuse.
Monte Kwinter steps up to the plate with another idiotic pronouncement. If Monte has any sense at all he'll be looking for employment further afield too... at the UN perchance, cos' it'll be a hard blue rain come next election.
Kwinter said she will stay on as commissioner until early October to ensure a smooth transition. In the meantime, an extensive, Canadawide search will begin shortly to fill the position, he added.
"I want to replicate Gwen Boniface, quite frankly," Kwinter said.
Of course you do, you're a Liberal.

What Monte actually meant was "clone", but LIBLAB Corporation is still having some trouble with the science. The clones will then be positioned strategically throughout the civil service bureaucracy in Ontario.

UPDATE * From the official press release
Commissioner Boniface received the Order of Ontario in 2001 for her work with First Nations communities and holds the Order of Merit of the Police Forces.
That makes things a little clearer.
