I pass by Lawrence and Weston Road twice a day on my daily commute. It is a rough neighbourhood. You have to act cool and stick to your business. (real conservative)
Oh well...
I didn't know you only went to the safe boozecans when you lived here Neo...

"jag says... you only went to the safe boozecans"
i only ever went to a boozecan once in my life, in the 1980s... it was a condemned house down around king & spadina.
it was a filthy, crowded place with electricity, but no running water... but, strangely enough, not a gun in sight.
funny how that works.

Well, my experience in booze cans is a little more varied than yours, and quite a bit less than those guys who got shot...but I'll just say "doesn't mean they weren't there"...

"jag says... doesn't mean they weren't there"
early 80s... i'll take that bet.

There was gunplay in the 80's but amoung the same cultural groups as today. I also rememeber the Red Star crusade at the time against the police who dared to shoot armed drug dealers.
"anon says... here was gunplay in the 80's"
not like this, there wasn't.
