The Minister of Business Class

I bet all those folks losing their asses back in Windsor, will be thrilled to hear the news...

Opposition politicians accuse International Trade Minister Sandra Pupatello of living the high life on taxpayers' money, something they say she used to condemn when she was in opposition.

The Conservatives say Pupatello ran up a $128,000 travel bill in just one year, even though in the past she had severely criticized a Tory minister who had spent less than that in two years on the job.
Ah... but now we're playin' by McSlippery Rules.

At some point you have to break the cycle. Not that I'm a fan in any way of Puppatello, there's nothing wrong with here travel expenses given her job. Her job is to promote Ontario and it's industry to the world. As much as we'd like to, you can't do this on the cheap. I believe in being mindful of the taxpayer's dollar, but by the same token, I don't expect her or anyone in her position to book a slow boat to China every time they go abroad. In the venue she's working in, you don't get results by going on the cheap all the time. It's not a blank cheque to spend at will, but we do have to exercise some rational thought when looking at this.

PS. I'm from Windsor and she's actually my MPP, whether I like it or not.

except, apparently, in this case, it is... and secondly... how's all this "promoting" workin' out for you, so far?

Sandra Pupatello is a couragous soul attempting to fight for Ontarians and her economically striken Windsor. Somebody has to represent Ontario - better it's somebody who doesn't have kids... because she gave up having kids to be an MPP. Really, this was in the papers in fall & winter 2003: She tried and tried and tried, even with in vitro... but put country first.

I wish she was cut a break. Hell, I'm a fan of Tasha Kheiriddin, PMSH and the like... and I think Ontario's best MPP is, has been and always will be Sandra Pupatello.

"josef says... because she gave up having kids to be an MPP"

she gave up having kids? sounds like she had medical issues.

but where would that justify $700 a night hotel rooms and $100 breakfasts anyway?

doesn't sound much like sacrifice to me.

especially after screaming about the tory ministers before her and all their wasteful ways.

sorry, no sale.

Yup, medical played a part. She could have rested and had the baby... but risked and raced into harm's way in 2003 to stop the bad guys.

A true Windsor Westener maverick.

That said, the spending needs auditing by professionals - not politicians.
