Police say they are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead on the eighth floor of an apartment building at 544 Birchmount Road, in the city’s Scarborough Junction neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called reportedly for a complaint about a person with a knife.

The victim of Toronto’s second homicide of 2019 has been identified as 30-year-old Lorraine Kerubo Ogoti. Police found 40-year-old Mowlid Hassan lying on the concrete sidewalk outside the building’s entrance after apparently leaping from an eighth-floor balcony.

At around 1:16 p.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews were dispatched to a townhouse complex on John Garland Blvd. near Humber College Blvd. for reports of a man in his late 20s who had been shot.

This is the city’s 22nd homicide of 2019.

That's 16 men and six women so far.

Time to ban the Toronto Raptors

Remember... "if it only saves one life"...

A man was stabbed to death in the heart of the city early Saturday as Raptors fans filled the streets celebrating the team’s big Game 4 win of the NBA Finals.

The deadly stabbing occurred at Yonge and Charles Sts., south of Bloor St., around 12:15 a.m. There have been no arrests and no suspect description has been released in the city’s 27th murder of the year.

It's not the first Raptor-related incident involving extreme mayhem.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has said it can levy thousands in fines if applicants who get retail licences do not open their stores on time.

Toronto police received multiple reports a man, Jermaine Gerard Skeete, 34, had been shot near Vaughan Road and Glenora Road around 2:50 a.m. He was rushed to hospital without vital signs, but died of his injuries.

This is the city’s 19th homicide of 2019.

Police say the victim was driving in a white SUV on Weston Road when an another vehicle pulled up beside it and someone opened fire.

Police say officers found the man lying on the ground in the McDonalds parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds in the city’s north end. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Police have identified him as Minh Le, 61, of Toronto.

The victim of a deadly stabbing on Monday has been identified as 17-year-old Brendon Bowler from Toronto. Two men were taken into custody immediately following the stabbing.

They have now been identified as Toronto residents Emmett Carew, 18, and Cheddi Itwaroo, 20. A man who identified himself as the brother of Itwaroo told CTV News Toronto as he left the courtroom that “the family is in good spirits. It’s another day of life, that’s the way I take it.”

York Regional police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant in the fatal shooting of a teen at a prom after-party in Whitchurch-Stouffville last Friday. Jahdea Paterson, 18, of Toronto, is wanted for first-degree murder in the death of Rizwaan Abookbabar Wadee, 18.

In its interim report, released in November 2017, the inquiry said its forensic review team would “put select police files on missing and murdered women and girls under a clinical microscope.”

The final report shows those requests were only sent out to 28 police forces across Canada between Sept. 20 and Dec. 31, when the inquiry’s authority to subpoena documents ended.

Partly as a result of the time crunch, the report says, the inquiry had obtained only 174 of the 479 police files it requested by April 2019.

Asked about the delay after the closing ceremony on Monday, Chief Commissioner Marion Buller said the timing was “not late.”

A man is facing nearly two dozen charges in connection with a human trafficking investigation in Peel Region, police say.

On Monday, members of the the Vice, Narcotics and Street Level Organized Crime Unit arrested and charged Jamar Ferguson, a 27-year-old Mississauga man, with 22 offences.

A woman charged with second-degree murder, Fantasia Hoo-Hing of Toronto, is wanted on a warrant for breaching her bail conditions.

Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a Toronto Community Housing Corp. building at 40 Gordonridge Place near Danforth Road and Midland Avenue. “The information were getting is that the building and that particular floor had heavy drug activity.” Another man was stabbed to death in the same building in April of last year and was the city’s 17th homicide of 2018.

In January 2014, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (an armoured truck robbery) and received a suspended sentence, 18 months probation on top of time served.

He also has convictions for assaulting his girlfriend and then breaching conditions to stay away from her.

Two years ago, he was convicted of possession of a firearm and received time served — 45 days pre-sentence custody — and a $10 fine. A social media posting for Ming lists him as a “marketing co-ordinator.”

Toronto Police said they were called to a McDonald’s restaurant in the Yonge and Gerrard Streets area at around 3:00 a.m. Thursday for a report that a man had been stabbed and that the victim had attempted to board a bus.

When EMS arrived, they said they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified by police as Donovan Betty, 21, of Toronto.

Peter Wight, 42, of Pickering, is charged with second-degree murder for the death of Edwin McGowan, 52, who was found lifeless in an apartment on Antrim Cr. on Sept. 22.

Toronto police received several reports of gunshots being fired at 1:42 a.m. this morning in the area of Oakwood Avenue and Vaughan Road and located a victim screaming and suffering from serious injuries.

Paramedics were called and he died, but police are unsure if he died in the ambulance or at the hospital. No suspect information has been released.

“It was like a normal thing to us,” said Thamim Chowdhury.

On Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 12:32 p.m., police responded to a call for unknown trouble at 141 Davisville Avenue and located a woman without vital signs and a man suffering from obvious trauma. Both were taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The woman has been identified as Bethelhem Geleta, 22, of Toronto. An autopsy revealed her cause of death to be strangulation.

The man has been identified as Aboma Daba, 30, of Toronto.
