If he'll only "permit" it in Toronto...

Isn't Premier McSlippery calling this a "token school"?

-- KITCHENER, Ont. -- Ontario "won't hesitate" to prevent the segregation of kids according to race by quashing a proliferation of black-focused schools across the province if other school boards start following Toronto's lead, Premier Dalton McGuinty said Friday.

One day after McGuinty said he wouldn't overrule the Toronto District School Board's decision to establish one of Canada's first black-focused schools, McGuinty said he's not ruling out quashing the idea if Ontario boards start following suit.
The problem is, it's hard to take a principled stand... when you don't actually have any principles...
Critics, however, called McGuinty a "coward" for not overruling the Toronto board's decision when the government is clearly opposed to the idea.

Conservative Joyce Savoline said the Liberals are hypocrites for speaking out so strongly against the "segregation" of kids during the recent debate over the funding of religious schools, and then refusing to act now to stop the creation of a black-focused school.

"Why is it okay in Toronto but not okay in Windsor or in Ottawa or other places?" she said.

"If there is a reason to step in in other places, there is a reason to step in now."

Premier Dalton McGuinty is urging Torontonians to pressure their school board trustees into overturning a controversial decision to create a black-focused school.

While stressing his disappointment in Toronto District School Board trustees, McGuinty conceded he would not amend the Education Act to outlaw something he has likened to segregation.

LAST WORD: Scratch a Liberal...
Find a condescending bastard.

Lying Liberal hypocrites. Are there any other kind?

McGuinty was on Bill Carroll's prior to the vote and told listeners he respected the Boards ruling and he should not interfere with Provincial Educations matters .

I guess McWeasel expected it to be voted down for the shear stupidity of the concept and paded his bet with a Political answer that made him look good , but oddly enough the White Board members feared the "Racist" label and said YES while the Black members voted NO .

Kinda like his Autism cruade to help the disabled who are denied a Charter-Right for health care and then once he got in power he said the the Courts have spoken in favour of it but as the Ontario premier he wouldn't let the Courts set Political Policies , this just after the Liberals rushed through the changes to 100+ laws dealing with Same-gender marriage because a Court ruled it was a Charter Right.

Thank goodness we have McGuinty! We don't need no Afrocentric schools in Kenora. (Double negative)

What the H#ll is an "Afro-centric" anyhooo???

I get a kick out of the re-naming of a race to try to fit in - all it does is bring more attention to the differences.

( note to trolls - that was not meant in any racial slurring way - in case any left leaning trolls misinterpreted my remark! )

Just another phase of the Liberal elite to gain control of our youngens minds, simpley lower the bar and then you've leveled the playing field for statistics.

Another grand Liberal Idea, they're always a day late and dollar short.

This only makes me wonder how long it will be before white, OOPS, non-afro-centric pupils will be forced to attend these new institutions of learning in order to promote racial equality.

Cheers!

What if a race-based school other than Afro-centric is proposed somewhere else in Ontario? There is a Mexican influx in Windsor, I understand. How about Mexi-centric? The City of Vaughn has its own Muslim subdivision. How about Arab-centric?

How can he only allow the TDSB to do this? Oh wait, he allows only Catholics to have their own publicly-funded system, so I guess it's o.k.

well... i understand this one... his kids go to catholic school and his wife teaches at one. he's just promoting a liberal value... take care of your own.

the other thing... sheer hypocrisy.
