They needed a freakin' fire truck...

...to hose down the blood-drenched neighbourhood - and that's not a hyperbolic turn of phrase...insert alt text here

Sasikaran Thanapalasingam, 38 of Toronto, accused of hacking a woman to death with a machete showed no emotion when he appeared in court on Thursday afternoon. A 9-1-1 call captured Jeganathan’s screams during the attack — that recording will be used as evidence at the trial.
Who could have seen this coming, you ask?

The short answer is... anybody with half a brain...
Thanapalasingam had been acquitted of domestic violence charges in Feb. 2018, and faced two assault allegations from 2017. He also committed multiple breaches of no-contact orders.
TIME TRAVEL WITH ME:
“In 2003, Dalton McGuinty promised to build safe communities,” one of the advertisements states. “But last year in Toronto, seven out of ten people charged with murder were out on bail or probation when those murders were committed.”

RELATED: Remember back... you were a kid...

...and mass brawls with edged weapons broke out every couple days?

Yeah... me neither.
A teenager has sustained serious injuries after a stabbing in near near York Mills Road and Fenside Drive around 3:40 p.m. in North York Thursday afternoon.

"Reports were that there were approximately 15 to 20 people involved in a large physical altercation," said Toronto police Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook. "They dispersed prior to police arrival."
And...
Toronto police are investigating after a man was shot was shot multiple times near Islington Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
Say... what's different nowadays?

LAST WORD: Hmmm... smells like a clue...
Three-hundred and twenty six people charged with firearms offences are free on bail in Toronto today, Chief Mark Saunders revealed Friday as he seeks to redistribute blame for the sudden increase in gun violence in the city over the last seven days.
To paraphrase Joe Rogan... we nerf all the hard corners and sharp edges in this brave new world... and it has come back to bite us on the ass.
