I'm with Terry Nelson...

...let's just stop pumping billions of taxpayer dollars into these hellholes every year...

A former Manitoban First Nations leader has raised the ire of Canadian officials with his appearance on Iranian television comparing aboriginal reserves to concentration camps.

Terry Nelson, former chief of Manitoba's Roseau River Anishinabe, made the comments during an interview on Sunday with Iranian Press TV in Tehran.
It is way past time for Canada's aboriginal populace to join mainstream society... where they will be treated exactly the same as any other citizen.

Or we could offer to pay their airfare to Iran.

I hope that the FIRST NATION OF CANADA disown this man Terry Nelson from their midst. Terry and his friend have become a 'black mark' to his people.

BTW, how much money did Terry Nelson make compared to his own little people?

10 billion plus a year spent on indian affairs and indians are living in poverty. it would seem to be their choice.

I wonder if the money spent on reservations is partly in order to prevent natives from coming en masse into canada's cities?

"anon says... to prevent natives from coming en masse into canada's cities"

you know what? i'll treat this as a legitimate question and not the obviously provocative troll that it is.

why would every single federal government of whatever political stripe spend an unbelievable amount of money (currently 12 billion dollars) every year for the last how many decades... as some sort of presumably nefarious plot?

it's a pretty expensive racist plot, don't you think?

funny how so much of the money gets to the level of native government leadership, only to disappear into the ether.

don't believe me? read on...

"At least 80 aboriginal chiefs and band councillors made more money last year than Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and at least 200 were paid more than their provincial premiers, according to newly released federal figures."

what about attawapiskat?

or the glooscap fist nation?

"As chief in 2008-09, Ms. Clarke received a total tax-free compensation of about $243,000."

"Ms. Clarke runs a reserve of 87 people."

the examples are endless. the money tap is never turned off.

the aboriginal peoples are being fucked over by their own chiefs. if anybody is plotting to keep folks powerless on the rez... it's them.

I'm a troll? Not me, sir. And I am sure that you are correct that their leaders are fucking them over as you suggest they are.

No, I'm not a troll, and i'm unsure of why you think I am one.
I will stop posting comments here altogether if you wish; i'm not here to upset you and that is not my intention.

"dear anon... you originally posted, 'prevent natives from coming en masse into canada's cities?'"

that sounds awfully like a half-baked conspiracy theory to me. when i get anonymous comments like that i take them with a grain of salt. if they're beyond the pale i don't publish them.

post or don't post... it's not like you're gonna hurt my feelings.
