Is it still racist and patriarchal if...

...a black man says it...insert alt text here

Trevor Phillips, the former head of the United Kingdom’s Equality and Human Rights Commission has accused the BBC of “whitewashing” crime stories by not addressing the high number of black-on-black stabbings, and warned politicians and police to stop ignoring the links between race and gang violence.

Mr Phillips noted that in terms of youth gang violence, “black boys are more than 20 times as likely to be involved in serious attacks compared with their white peers.

“The BBC in particular is guilty of whitewashing the truth. Its defence is that race should only be reported where it is relevant. Yet it has no qualms about routinely describing stop and search by police in racial terms.”

The Royal Commission Justin Trudeau doesn't dare have...
"One man is well known for having a stranglehold on drug trafficking on the reserve. Toss in prostitution and weapons smuggling and the man is a force to be reckoned with. And he is absolutely ruthless."
The five unsolved homicides on the Rez speak to that.

BREAKING: Possible Mt Pleasant mayhem...
A 42-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with a suspicious death in North Toronto on Monday. Emergency crews were called to a residence on Broadway Avenue, which is in the area of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue, at around 2 p.m.

UPDATE:
“Homicide has been contacted, but this is not confirmed as a homicide,” said police spokesman Katrina Arrogante.

What if anything suggests that the Mt. Pleasant police all relates to a non-white assailant? I read through and saw nothing that implied the race of the suspect. I'm not being snarky, just curious as to what I missed.

where did i say anything about race
in the post? you seem to be a bit
overly sensitive here.

it's simply another possible homicide
in the "slaughter by the water"

murder is murder, bro.

ps... no comment on what Trevor Phillips
has to say? he brought up some racial
stuff there.

I'm not here to dispute your argument, and I don't think that I am being over-sensitive here. You didn't mention race, but you placed the Broadway murder inside a thread that deals with black violence and aboriginal violence, so I thought that there was some correlation there. I enjoy your blog, I'm not a hostile poster. Thanks.

"Police have named Jason Otis Lewis, 47, as the person bludgeoned to death in an apartment at 133 Broadway Ave. Monday."

i moved out of toronto in 2001 when it came time to put my son in school.

best decision i ever made.

Trevor Phillips is correct that the BBC covers up the race of criminals, as does the CBC. Of course they do.
Lucky you getting out of Toronto before it started swirling around the toilet bowl in so many ways.

more about culture than race... but
how will the huge problems ever be
addressed, if the media wantonly
conceal what is actually happening
out there?

Yes, you're correct, it' a matter of culture, not race. My bad.
Luckily, more and more people are disregarding what the media says, and are learning to read between the lines. The comments section of any online media is the only interesting thing there.
