"Stranger in a Strange land" comes to mind when I read about these shoes and the power they have over people. You can be killed for a new pair of running shoes!
It's no longer spending to "keep up with the Joneses"; too many of us are spending to "one up the Joneses". I cannot understand this constant need for more, more, more and better, better, better. No wonder people need bigger houses. They need more room to store it all.

How long before the first story emerges that someone somewhere is bullied, mugged, stabbed or shot for a pair of these oh so special shoes.
To Mahmood, yesterday in London a ghetto rat was stabbed and killed over a pair of sneakers. Two gangs got into a tussle over who had the franchise on shoplifting sneakers from a particular retailer.
