Is Hanoi Jane Taber...

...floating a trial balloon for Stephane Dion?

If so... its name may be Hindenburg.
Over the weekend, Mr. Dion told one defeated candidate to “stay strong and trim and be ready,” surmising that the budget that the Harper Conservatives deliver in February “is going to be a mess.”

The Harper Tories were held to a minority government last Tuesday and a budget vote is a confidence matter that could bring down the government.

“He didn't sound like someone who is leaving,” a senior Liberal source said.
**********

RELATED: From the obituary page...
"Stephane is politically survived by a bankrupt party, his professorial pals Bob and Iggy, Jane Taber, Craig Oliver, Jim Travers and TorStar (for now), Justin Trudeau, Warren Kinsella and a myriad of socialist Canadians who are entitled to their entitlements."

"He will be sadly missed by both large and small C conservatives alike."

LAST WORD: Best comment bar none...

...on Dion's self-imposed exile at Stornoway this last week...

My apologies to Jane Taber

Apparently, Hanoi Jane isn't actually the biggest Liberal apologist & sycophant in the land...
"Those who consider decades of analysis of political philosophy, international relations and nation building a more important qualification for Prime Minister than devotion to family need not worry. Ignatieff has both."
Hang on a second.

Is this the same Michael Ignatieff who left his wife & two young children... to be with the current "love of his life?"

Heck, let's ask, well... Michael Ignatieff...
"I don't want to litter the slopes with bodies. There may be people who I've left behind who feel that I was ruthless, and if they feel that, then all I can say is — I wouldn't apologize — all I could say is, I don't want to hurt people."
Make sure you don't miss the amusing little anecdote told by Iggy's younger brother.

Dear Liberal Supporter...

I don't know that I ever thanked you for your recent prognostications concerning Canadian politics & the federal elections...

RELATED: Thank you, Michael Ignatieff...

...it cost 300 million dollars... but it was worth it...
Michael Ignatieff made history as the Liberal Leader who took his party to new lows, placing third for the first time ever, behind the Conservatives and New Democrats. The Grit fortress in Atlantic Canada was gone, as was Toronto. The Leader even lost his own seat.

For a man who returned to Canada in 2005 intent on making a mark on his home country, it was a disaster of epic proportions. He did worse than his predecessor, Stéphane Dion, who won 77 seats in 2008.

The Obama-fication of Iggy

Looks like the MSM wants to find out... if they can elect the leader of OUR country as well...
Michael Ignatieff is just weeks into his leadership, enjoying a honeymoon period, holding parties to make nice with Liberals still in recovery from the Dion era and fighting off American news media clamouring for interviews about his strong connections to Barack Obama.
And Hanoi Jane is quick to do her part...
Meanwhile, national opinion polls continue to put Mr. Ignatieff in a favourable light and the Conservatives under Prime Minister Stephen Harper are shying away from attacking him in the way they attacked Mr. Dion through a series of negative ads.
Jane... as usual... is full of prunes...
And what exactly is Iggy's "signal achievement" thus far?

Oh... right.

Another Jane Taber tongue-bath

...must be Tuesday...
hanoi jane
The prospect of a fall election doesn't scare Michael Ignatieff. He's ready and so is the Liberal Party.

I’m not afraid of an election. I’ll fight an election,” he said.
Hmmm... just spitballin' here... but isn't that the absolute minimum expectation you might have of the purported leader of a political party?

Plus, Janie... I doubt it.

Man... you can almost smell the journalism.

Easy guys... don't pull a think muscle

Hanoi Jane & her BFF Iggy... swing for the fence...
The opposition focus today is on the slap down by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the Conservative government’s failure to invite other Nordic nations to yesterday’s Arctic summit.
Oh, good grief... even the guy she's been married to for decades... doesn't take "Shrillary" this seriously... maybe because she's just as slick & slippery as he is.

So, Michael... policy-wise... we're gonna stick with, "I'm not Stephen Harper."

Hope you've got a Plan B.

UPDATE: Tonight's CTV Moonbat Moment

Count Floyd & chief Iggy cheerleader Bob Fife seem to have done a 180... and suddenly decided that bringing Canadian troops home by the 2011 deadline is a bad thing. They don't come right out & say that... but the inference is as subtle as an ice-cold toilet seat. They even brought in a British spokesman to say that Canadians should stay.

Apparently it's okay to kowtow to an American president as long as it's Barack Obama. And that Hillary Clinton? She's just one straight-talkin' (translation: she's demanding the Canadian government support abortion on demand) gal.

Amazing... they don't even pretend not to have an agenda.

Of course... the "Usual Suspect"

Hanoi Jane Taber... the Sherlock Holmes of political journalism...
“I sincerely believe that the Giorno letter is at the heart of this thing because it will show the true nature of Stephen Harper – because he obviously approved it.”
See, the thing is, Janie... you don't really need a mysterious, unnamed "senior Ignatieff official"... to know which way the bovine emissions, er... wind is really blowing...
-- OTTAWA -- Michael Ignatieff is drawing a link between disgraced former cabinet minister Helena Guergis and organized crime.

“I don’t want to make false accusations but you don’t get cocaine at a corner drug store, right? You have to get it from somewhere, from someone and usually that means organized crime.”
But Stephen Harper is the villain here? Funny how that works, huh?

**********

RELATED: Janie jumps again...
Helena Guergis’s career was destroyed by a parliamentary process run amok and a Prime Minister who is out of control, Liberal Party President Alf Apps says.
Curiously... Ms. Taber forgets to mention that, at one point, Alf Apps was Nazim Gillani's lawyer and was, in fact, described as Gillani's "getaway driver" before a paliamentary committee.

You can almost smell the journalism.

More media-manufactured monster

You ever notice how Stephen Harper... unlike wise & gentle Professor Ignatieff... is always "lashing out, venting spleen"... or "slapping down" anyone who dares cross his shadow?

Call me wacky, but it sounds as though the PMO may have, if I may be so bold, simply ... "issued a denial."

Is this the same crowd of media jesters who couldn't get enough of Iggy pontificating about "hookers, mosbsters & blow" just a short while ago?
-- OTTAWA -- Michael Ignatieff is drawing a link between disgraced former cabinet minister Helena Guergis and organized crime.
The news according to Hanoi Jane Taber... it's laughable.

08 April 2010

Elementary, my dear Iggy

Just how bereft of ideas do you have to be... to try tying Stephen Harper into booze, whores & blow?
-- OTTAWA -- “I think we are entering an entirely new realm here,” a top official in Michael Ignatieff’s office said. “We are looking into this.” --
Yes, yes... of course you are.

Behold Michael Ignatieff's "entirely new realm" of political sleaze.

Remember all those crazy stories about the Prime Minister & his good buddy Rahim... you know... the guy who hasn't been an MP since 2008... settin' fire to the Bytown hooker strip?

Yeah... me neither.

And hey... he doesn't just LOOK like a smarmy Vulcan... he talks like one too!
“Nothing is personal in politics, because politics is theater. It is part of the job to pretend to have emotions that you do not actually feel.”
Simply more shameless propaganda courtesy of... surprise, surprise... Hanoi Jane Taber.

RELATED: Who gets Michael Ignatieff?

I mean, besides himself & Scott Reid.
"It was right for me to support the Iraq war when I was an academic, because academics live in outer space on Planet Zinfandel, and play with ideas all day. But now, as a politician in a country that opposed the war, I'll admit I screwed up, because politicians must deign to harness the wild mares of whimsy to the ox-cart of cold, calculated reality."

So, although his judgments were objectively wrong, they were contextually appropriate. Sweet! You've been totally 0wn3d by Michael Ignatieff!

And so have all those dead Iraqis.
Yeah... Rahim Jaffer... that's what we should be worried about.

Welcome Back Khadr?

Not bloody likely...
I speak in the name of the Government of Canada and what I can tell you is that any plea bargain was between Mr. Khadr’s officials, his lawyers as well as the American government."

"Real men" don't worry about perjury

I'd love to see Michael Ignatieff giving sworn testimony...liar, liarYou can publicly lie to a whole country... I imagine you can lie anyplace, anytime.
"Liberals say they will post an online poll Monday asking Canadians which new Harper quote on health care they should use to replace one 'that was inaccurate'."
"Inaccurate", huh? Looks like Hanoi Jane is still buckin' for that Senate seat.

You've gotta love the automatic Fiberal reaction here... get caught... and instead of retracting & apologising, you call your opponent a wuss.

Is there anything Michael Ignatieff wouldn't say or do to become Prime Minister.

The answer seems pretty clear.

Meanwhile... in other "the childrens is r futcher" news... I'm with Kate... let them eat debt.

"Accurate" information? Seriously?

So when Hanoi Jane Taber teams up with National Liberal Fund director Adam Smith... to rage against deconstruction of the 2 billion dollar "Farmer Bob Rifle Registry"... why exactly do they lead off with a picture of a prohibited assault rifle with an illegal 30 round clip?
I'm gonna go out on a limb here... but I'm thinkin' that's not the firearm of choice for any of the farmers, duck hunters or skeet shooters that I know.
-- OTTAWA -- “That’s why it’s critical that we respond with a targeted campaign of our own. Canadians need 'ACCURATE INFORMATION' about the changes we’ve proposed, and the MPs under attack need to know that the Liberals from coast to coast to coast are standing behind them.”
See guys... if you were actually interested in "accurate information", you could put up a shot of an ordinary deer rifle... or a .22 calibre plinker... but that's not really gonna whip up the fear, is it?

I guess we're just lucky you didn't try to photoshop in a bazooka... or a couple of hand grenades.

Yup... they disappeared the "merchant of death" assault rifle picture... but no apology for a blatant attempt to gin up public hysteria.

The jacket of the book trumpets a number of excerpts from newspaper critiques that leave the impression the tome won rave reviews when first published last spring.

Take this snippet from the National Post: "Plenty of scope for a rich story ... Some wonderful anecdotes, particularly about George P. Grant ... Well written."

In fact, the Post review in its entirety was far from laudatory.

"True Patriot Love offers little that is new on the Grants save some wonderful anecdotes, particularly about George P. Grant. As an exploration of patriotism, it offers up cliches about modern Canada but little more," wrote Post reviewer Robert L. Fraser.

"True Patriot Love is a well-written disappointment."

You know what'd be really scary, Chantal...

...putting the NDP in charge of absolutely anything important...that's not shiatsu
The planned ad, provided Sunday to The Globe and Mail, pictured the wrong version of that gun, one that is already restricted and will still have to be registered after Parliament votes to scrap the registry for most long guns.

Now the NDP hastily changing the billboards in time for them to be put up in three cities this week, picturing a different gun – a Steyr HS .50 – which is a non-restricted firearm. “We are updating it,” said NDP national director Chantal Vallerand.
Now maybe that explains everything... you know... like how a non-legally blind, non-special needs adult could mistake a legitimate medical therapy outlet... for a sleazy Chinatown rub'n-tug.

Of course... it's not like we haven't seen this sort of hastily manufactured propaganda before...

Somebody gonna ask Iggy...

...where he stands on this one?
-- OTTAWA -- The Conservative government is promising to cut off monthly old-age security payments to hundreds of federal prison inmates, including infamous serial killer Clifford Olson.

The latest available figures indicate about 325 jailed killers, rapists and other assorted criminals over 65 are receiving up to $1,200 a month in old age security.

LAST WORD: What should really scare Iggy...

...is that he's being under-bussed by Hanoi Jane Taber...
Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals are sliding back into Stéphane Dion territory, according to a new EKOS Research poll.

This is not a good set of numbers, especially for the Liberals, pollster Frank Graves says. “After pulling back to parity they seem to be following a slow downward spiral into Dion-land.”
Ooooh... there's the kiss of death.

13 December 2008

Just watched Mike Duffy...

...and Hanoi Jane Taber pontificating on the demise of the magic coalition. The best moment had to be when Duffy said... "The liberals are so screwed up, they're stabbing each other in the front."
This week, the once explosive notion of a coalition is a shimmer in some phantom zone of yesterday's politics. No one who had anything to do with it wants to admit it's dead. They want it to fade away all on its own.

If it wasn't for that signing ceremony and the wonderfully retentive powers of videotape, I'd almost bet some of its backers would deny it ever existed.

There won't be any more rallies for the coalition. It was the fevered product of a moment's opportunism, a political house of cards.

Five years from now, it'll be a good question for Trivial Pursuit.
