R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

We get out to the garage and he's got shovels and rakes and coffee cans full of bouquets. And I said, 'What are we doing?'

And he goes, 'We're doing the graves.'

Wow. Old school respect. Makes me feel shallow by comparison.

Now that's a Memorial Day!
Thanks for that neo. What a great story! My parents were American and we grew up close to the border, so I celebrated Memorial Day more than Victoria Day.

out here in the bay of quinte area... people are very aware of their loyalist ancestry... and it's not unusual to see graves from the 1800's sporting flowers, or even a professional refurbishing.

it's a sense of the past that is very quickly vanishing... especially in the larger urban centres.

i know people who have been living on the same family farm for over 150 years.

it's some of what i love most about this part of ontario.

a respect for the past.
