Just another tone deaf political gaffe...

...or is the White House letting the figurative veil slip yet again?that'd explain a few thingsEither way, you get shown up by the likes of the Palestinian Authority... it's time to find a new playbook. Even the usual Obama cheerleaders are calling this a train wreck...

President Obama’s decision not to attend yesterday’s Unity Rally in Paris in response to the terrorist horrors of this past week may register as his most disturbing, and profoundly harmful, public relations mishap to date.
Republicans were equally outraged...
The absence is symbolic of the lack of American leadership on the world stage, and it is dangerous. The attack on Paris, just like previous assaults on Israel and other allies, is an attack on our shared values. And, we are stronger when we stand together, as French President Fran├žois Hollande said, for “liberty, equality, and fraternity.”
It could have been worse... at least this time, Obama's handlers kept him off the golf course.

ASK A FRENCH MUSLIM:
He also called the Paris terrorist attacks “un complot,” or conspiracy, and launched into a lengthy explanation of the “magical Jews” behind it. They were not ordinary Jews, he said, but a “hybrid race of shape shifters” who have extraordinary abilities.
Ignorant. Racist. Criminal.

Can France recover from this situation? It sure doesn't sound like it.

UPDATE: Was it a deliberate snub?
From nearly the beginning of the president's term, the Whitehouse made clear it did not want to refer to Islamic jihad as either Islamic or jihad. As the world watched images of black-clad, AK-47-wielding terrorists killing Parisians, Obama proposed to meet the threat with social service providers.
Sounds like more of Obama's political sleight of hand to me.

I watched the 2 segments of Greta Van Susteren's interview of James Foley's parents. Although both the post and the video claimed the parents voiced their disappointment with Obama, I did not hear that anywhere in those 2 interview segments.

Please understand, I am far from being an Obama apologist. But just as it often infuriates me to see and hear media misrepresent something PM Harper or one of his cabinet ministers says or does, I find the headline of the FoxNation post highly misleading. If the point of the FoxNation post was to highlight the Foley parents' disappointment with Obama's reaction, then that is what should have been presented in the two segments.

gabby, i agree... too often headlines are torqued beyond what is reasonable.

what isn't in dispute here is that obama is not the spiritual soul that the left would have you believe. he is, in fact, a self absorbed narcissus who is, daily, phoning it in rather than leading.

is that because he can't see past his own press releases... or is his early muslim upbringing coming to the fore?

passing on the paris memorial and golfing while blood still dripped from james foley's severed head... both events are inexplicable and inexcusable.

america needs a real leader. that's the point.

And speaking of absenses - tone-deaf, at that - where was Canada's representation in Paris? That show of solidarity by world leaders just might be the beginning of the end for terrorists' licence to kill. The leftist participants are fickle so it is very important that leaders with a backbone clasp arms with them, holding them in the front lines. Alas, Harper and Company suffer from spinal degeneration.

Neo, I agree Obama has been a disappointing president ... but then, so have been some of his predecessors. Let's face it, America is in decline, not just because of its directionless president but because its people seem more interested in the Kardashians than in what happens globally.

As for Dollops' criticism of PM Harper not attending the Paris memorial march, I'm sure Dollops would probably criticize PM Harper for being in a photo-op had he been in attendance. And indeed, Public Safety Minister Blainey was sent as Canada's representative

And that wide shot? IMO, understandable that there would be a wide gap between the leaders attending and the rest of the public, given the heightened security risks.

"gabby says... IMO, understandable that there would be a wide gap between the leaders attending and the rest of the public"

what is objectionable here is the photo-trickery that seems to show the leaders marching with the common folk. it portrays the opposite of what is actually taking place.

that is what news has become... infotainment and propaganda.

i won't presume to speak for commenter dollops.
