A $200 RIM Playbook...
...deal or no deal?

UPDATE: Jailbreaking the Playbook
"Mr. Wade and his partners, who wished to remain anonymous, said they will soon release the patch to Dingleberry.it, where users can download it to jailbreak their own tablets."
"'Now that it’s opened up, you’re going to see a lot more attacks on RIM,' Mr. Wade said. 'It may actually even boost RIM’s sales'."

RIM is dead so no deal
Hmmm, I was thinking of picking up one of the discounted Playbooks. But I don't get the issue that it is tied to use with a BB phone to access e-mail. If the Playbook also has wi-fi capability, shouldn't I be able to access a web based e-mail like g-mail? Perhaps other readers or Neo yourself could enlighten me.

al... i think there was always that capability via wi-fi... but that the playbook would be tethered to blackberry to access bbm etc.
apparently there's a playbook o/s upgrade out next month that will allow native email software on the unit itself.

Deal, big time.
I've no need for push e-mail,so it's smaller size and ability to run Flash makes the Playbook at that price very tempting, even if BB goes belly up (which I don't think will happen.)

apparently someone has jailbroken the playbook... says it'll probably make it more attractive to buyers.
