What would PM Ignatieff have done?

On the one hand we have these repentant Canadians and their sad families...
"It’s going to be tough because we’ve got a government that’s proven to be somewhat unresponsive to prisoner-transfer requests in circumstances of offences that are arguably much more minor offences."
On the other side of the fence we have that "unresponsive", hard-hearted ogre... Stephen Harper.

After all, it was just that single "offence"... you know... executing a major arms purchase for a violent terrorist group.

I mean, c'mon... it could happen to any one of us... right?

Wrong.

These men had access to every advantage this country had to offer, including post-secondary education and a bright, shining future... but they tossed that aside to deal guns & explosives...
"Sarachandran earned a computer science degree from the University of Windsor in 2002 before returning to Toronto to work at the Tamil Youth Organization, a non-profit group he now acknowledges was “part of” the Tamil Tigers network."
And, if it hadn't been for post-911 scrutiny... you could have been reading a totally different... bloodier story.

Language... and spin... are more important than ever. Don't count on the MSM to give you the whole story.

Note that the "four family members" were his first wife & three daughters... yet curiously, there's not a single word about "honour killing".

You know that old saying...

..."Only a fool brings a knife to... "an interaction"...
The Special Investigations Unit said Sylvia Klibingaitis, 52, was shot once in the chest following an interaction with an officer. An ambulance took her to Sunnybrook Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“It’s my understanding that she did pursue the officer with a knife,” said Const. Wendy Drummond.
How come there's never a taser around, when you really, really need one.

UPDATE: Hey, two sides to every story, right?

"Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be lawyers."
“This lady was a devoutly religious woman who volunteered at nursing homes to help elderly people,” Goldkind said. “She was upgrading her education at the U of T and she was raising a teenaged daughter. She was a good person. This is disheartening for me."
Yup, me too... if only she hadn't tried to disembowel a cop.

**********

LAST WORD: Enough with the lawyers...

...let's just have the facts...
SIU director Ian Scott said Sylvia Klibingaitis made a 911 call saying she was armed with a knife and was going to commit a crime.

As an officer approached the Wedgewood Dr. home, a grandmother who struggled with mental illness most of her adult life, rushed out onto the porch wielding a large knife.

“She went directly toward the subject officer holding the knife in a threatening manner,” he stated. The officer pulled out his service pistol and pointed it at Klibingaitis while stepping backward toward the street.

Scott stated the officer repeatedly yelled to put the knife down, but Klibingaitis responded, “No.”
Sorry, Peace Moonbeam... religious granny notwithstanding... this one's got suicide by cop written all over it...
“The in-car video camera recordings showed her less than two metres away from the subject officer with the knife positioned above her shoulder and continuing to close in on him when the subject officer discharged his firearm three times in rapid succession causing Ms. Klibingaitis to fall on the roadway.”

Remember back... you were a kid...

-- OTTAWA -- A 57-year-old Gatineau man who was badly beaten while trying to stop a young man from stealing a pumpkin in Aylmer last week died in hospital on Thursday.

After the cyclist told the young men to leave the pumpkins alone, one thief attacked him and inflicted serious head injuries, police said.
But don't you worry... the "justice" system is all over this...
On Saturday, police arrested a 19-year-old Pontiac man and charged him with assault causing bodily harm. The teenager was released following a promise to appear in court.

Upgraded charges against the 19-year-old are now being considered by Crown prosecutors.
Hey, Peace Moonbeam... those prisons all the leftbots are screaming about... you actually believe they're for the highschool pothead down the block?

Wake up and smell the homicide.

Hang on a second... I could've sworn...

...this came down to a 2% difference in the popular vote, but that's not anywhere close to how our "professional journalists" are torquing the headlines, is it?

Is there a mandatory "Obfuscation 101" course at J-school?

I swear... there's more "bait & switch" in the MSM than all my weekly junk mail combined. To present any of this as objective journalism is an insult to my intelligence.

Go ahead and be a partisan... but you don't get to call it journalism.

Gawd... I miss actual news.

LAST WORD: In other "crime is down" news

Psssst... wanna beat that 6 hour wait at your local germ-infested hospital emergency room? Try showing up at this place...
Inside, the building is bright and airy. The 12 injection stalls are kept scrupulously clean, with new needles, water and antiseptic wipes laid out on a table in front of a mirror for each new client. Nurses attend to wounds, abscesses, vein and skin conditions.
I've gotta say... these places sound way more engaging & hospitable than the hospitals I've been to recently...
“A lively and warm place,” as its website advertises, “where people of all stripes come to get injection equipment, condoms, crack pipes, counselling and even to draw a picture or play an instrument.”
And they go out of their way to make a person feel welcome.
You are all invited to join in the seasonnal(sic) seringe(sic) picking in your community.

Forget all about all the many & varied financial scandals... forget about rollin' the billion dollar dice on that Samsung thing... just remember what happened to the good folk of Caledonia...too many liberals, not enough common senseI get that Tim Hudak hasn't exactly set the world on fire... and I admit that I was wrong about Julian Fantino... but can you really endorse another four year romp through the garden for Emperor, er... There's gotta be a really profound lesson...

-- OTTAWA -- The city has paid out more than $330,000 in contribution rebates for last fall’s election campaign, according to the city clerk’s office, and expects to write cheques worth about another $27,000 in the months to come.
Lemme see... yet another tax on people who choose not to have a fiscal relationship with political parties? We're actually bribing people (with their own money, no less) to make political contributions?

I don't get it.
In an effort to encourage residents to get politically involved, the city offers partial refunds on contributions to local election campaigns — up to $187.50 on a contribution of $300.
I guess it's no worse than, say... Premier McSlippery using resident's money to buy shiny new syringes & crackpipes, eh?

Anyway, Ottawa... just something else to think about while you're writing out that beefy municipal tax cheque.

Well... if anybody knows from crazy

Subsidising political parties should be...

...a choice... not a tax...
-- OTTAWA -- The Harper government on Tuesday introduced legislation to scrap direct taxpayer subsidies for federal political parties. The move, to be implemented over three years, will eventually save nearly $30 million annually.

The public subsidies were first introduced by the Chretien government in 2003.
You wanna financially support the political party of your choice... it should be a choice. Taxing me to further the agenda of the NDP... or the Bloc... is adding insult to injury.

Hope, change and...

..."because I say so"...
Months ago, the Obama Administration revealed that it would target al-Awlaki. It even managed to wriggle out of a lawsuit filed by his father to prevent the assassination. But the actual legal reasoning the Department of Justice used to authorize the strike? It's secret. Classified. Information that the public isn't permitted to read, mull over, or challenge.

Obama hasn't just set a new precedent about killing Americans without due process. He has done so in a way that deliberately shields from public view the precise nature of the important precedent he has set.

It's time for the president who promised to create "a White House that's more transparent and accountable than anything we've seen before" to release the DOJ memo.
Oh, c'mon... who really cares about this sort of thing? Nice clean surgical strike... thousands of miles from home.

TORONTO - A man was shot near Trinity-Bellwoods Park overnight, Toronto Police said Sunday.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

UPDATE2: CBC gets their investigation on
Jefflin Beals of Dartmouth, N.S., was described as a 23-year-old with a checkered past — a former all-star basketball player at Dartmouth High School who also had three convictions for drug possession, two for breaching release conditions and one for causing a disturbance by fighting.

It is unclear if both Beals are one and the same.
Hmmm... seems pretty clear to the local Halifax paper...
In May of 2009, he was charged with numerous weapons offences, fleeing from police, impaired driving, dangerous driving and refusing the breathalyzer. He was allegedly driving a car that fled from police at Windmill Road and Elmwood Drive and police found a Hi-Point CF-380 handgun in the vehicle.

UPDATE3: Only a matter of time...

Darnell St. Clair Wright, 32, of Toronto, was arrested without incident Thursday at 8:45 p.m., police said in a news release Friday.
