The family of Afolabi Stephen Opaso, a Nigerian international student who was shot and killed by a Winnipeg police officer nearly two years ago, is calling for a new investigation into his death after a watchdog report written last week by Alberta authorities found 'no reasonable grounds' to charge the officer with a criminal offence.
Trouble is, the police response was totally justified... in the parlance, 'a good shoot'...
“A report released Wednesday by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team determined Opaso indeed ran at the officers holding two knives, at which point he was shot three times.   On the short recording, a male says, ‘drop the knife, drop the knife!’ and then three shots are heard immediately after.   Those words and the shots take less than three seconds.”

Nota Bene... it was Opaso's roomates who called 911 for help.

ALL VICTIMS... ALL THE TIME...

-- "The report recommends bars and clubs have heated cold-weather shelters or dry-out rooms available to intoxicated patrons, as well as free coat checks and security cameras." --
