The province’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting in Haliburton County that started with a report about a man who was refusing to wear a mask at a grocery store. OPP officers were called to the grocery store at around 8 a.m.UPDATE: Maybe skip the hyperbole?
“He refused to wear a mask at the store. He was refused service and the assault happened thereafter. So our people became involved with that initial assault investigation and follow-up,” OPP Sgt. Jason Folz said.
Using the vehicle’s licence plate, officers tracked the man to a home on Indian Point Road. Ultimately a 73-year-old male was transported to hospital, where he died,” Folz said.
“All I want to say, I want to give credit to my staff, who were very competent in handling the situation,” she said. “They were the real heroes in this situation."Heroes? You couldn't just let a cranky old man buy some bacon & eggs? Was it worth a human life?
Absolutely nobody comes off looking too good here.
