File it under "victimless" crime

A police officer who specialized in organized crime said he was surprised to hear Sergi was shot dead, even though his name came up often in investigations, including probes into things such as cigarette smuggling and cargo theft.

He wasn’t that major of a player,” the officer told the Star. “He was almost like a harmless guy . . . did his little crimes and made his money.”
Sergi, Sergi... that sounds so familiar...
Nearly $2.4 million in cash, the largest seizure to date, was seized after a year-long probe into a cross-country drug-trafficking investigation, Toronto police announced Monday.

Toronto police seized 205 kilograms of marijuana and three kilograms of hashish as a result of the investigation. A "large-hashish production lab" was also dismantled.
It's a shame Tony Large didn't live to see his criminal behaviour legalised, right Justin?

Funny how Toronto's "professional" journalists couldn't seem to make this connection.

If this isn't the Tony Sergi referred to above, it's one heck of a coincidence.

Toronto Police claim the accused, known as Master Raghav, advertised his services as an astrologer and psychic during February and March of this year.

“A 44-year-old man attended his business for psychic services and was told a sick family member had been the victim of an evil spirit,” Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu alleged Thursday.

“The man was charged $101,000 to remove this evil spirit.”

TORONTO - Ontario’s cabinet minister in charge of government purse strings says the $4.5-million pay received by Hydro One’s CEO is “not part of the equation” of cutting electricity costs for consumers.

New filings show that CEO Mayo Schmidt was paid $4.5 million in 2016 — an $850,000 salary plus bonuses — and those top five executives were paid a total of about $11.7 million.

One of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s closest friends is benefiting from an exclusive agreement between his data analytics company and the Liberal Party of Canada.

Data Sciences Inc, run by Trudeau’s boyhood friend, Tom Pitfield, is providing the party with “digital engagement” and support services for its powerful voter-contact database, Liberalist.

Neither the party nor Pitfield would say how much the agreement is worth to the firm, which Pitfield set up after his friend was elected party leader.

An access to information request from Rebel Media to Transport Canada, found the number of national security clearances revoked and refused has been steadily rising.

In 2010, there were 31 cases where an individual was refused clearance, and 11 where previously-awarded security clearances were revoked.

By 2015, those figures had jumped to 110 refusals and 42 revocations.

What is known is that police responded to 911 calls reporting Abdi grabbing women’s breasts inside a Hintonburg coffee shop. Once police arrived, they found Abdi. Police Chief Charles Bordeleau said Monday that the man continued to be “assaultive.” He fled the area and police pursued. He was physically taken down by officers some 270 metres away on Hilda Street.
Did the women in the coffee shop not deserve to be protected from Abdirahman Abdi?

Ottawa’s Carleton University says it now has scales in both men’s and women’s changing rooms in a bid to compromise with those who were angry when the scale in the main gym was removed earlier this month.

The issue gained traction well beyond the Carleton community, with outlets as far afield as the United Kingdom devoting space to the controversy.

When we speak of Islam, as opposed to Muslims, we are not speaking about a mere religious belief system. We are talking about a competing civilization — that is very much how Islam self-identifies.

It has its own history, principles, values, mores, and legal system. Islam, thus understood, is not non-Western. It is anti-Western.
Where are all the open-minded, educated Muslims we keep hearing about?

When it came to firearm injuries due to assault, immigrants and refugees were at much higher risk than their non-immigrant counterparts.

Refugee children and youth were 1.4 times more likely to be shot than Canadian-born residents of the same age. Firearm injuries due to violent assault tended to be clustered in low-income neighbourhoods in urban centres, where immigrant and refugee children and youth often live when they arrive in Canada.
So, it's the low income neighbourhoods with all the nasty guns? My last handgun purchase was $1200.00. I guess ol' Laquan et al must've hit the 649. Of course, minors can't purchase guns, so, even assuming a clean criminal record, these "Refugee children and youth" have apparently found some sort of extra-legal firearms pipeline.

Note that espite the urban, immigrant statistic cited here, the CBC chose to highlight a gun death in Grande Cache, Alberta.

The article also, curiously enough, neglects to say who is doing all the shooting or what gun club they belong to.

A last little nugget of media wisdom...
"Parents who decide to keep a gun in the home should be counselled to store firearms unloaded, with a trigger lock or in a locked container, and separate from ammunition."
Which, as any legitimate firearms owner knows... IS ALREADY THE FREAKIN' LAW OF THE LAND.

FWIW, Mrs Neo heard about this on CBC radio... which surprising no one, vilified firearms ownership and totally left out the, cough, cough... "cultural component."

Why not a motion, as some have suggested, speaking out against prejudice against all religions?
