In 2015 Saijan told the B.C. program "Conversations That Matter" that Gen. Jonathan Vance, the current chief of defence staff who was previously a commander in Afghanistan, saw him as a key figure in the 2006 offensive.

“If I could quote him, he said I was the architect of Operation Medusa, one of the biggest operations since the Korean War that Canada has led. We took the fight hard to the Taliban,” Sajjan said in July 2015, just months before he was elected as a Vancouver MP.

Vance’s office was not available Saturday to respond to that claim.

Of course he wasn't available for comment, General Vance reports directly to his boss, Defence Minister Hillary, er... Harjit Sajjan...

Byrne said that anybody who worked around the Clintons in the Secret Service who saw that speech would "start laughing their faces off because they knew that was a flat-out lie."

Video from the landing at Tuzla Air Force Base showed they were not being fired at; on the contrary, Clinton was embraced and handed a poem by a young girl.

After Clinton was confronted about the discrepancy in April 2008, she said she "misspoke."

At a news conference Friday Chief of the Defence Staff General Jon Vance was asked about Sajjan’s Operation Medusa claims and his apology.

“I’m not really aware of this case,” Vance said to the female reporter. So the Chief of Defence Staff, an Afghan veteran, is not aware of Sajjan’s Medusa problem? He must be the only one in National Defence headquarters.

When the reporter asked if she could have a follow up question, Vance snapped, “no.”

So much for democracy and accountability.

The Trudeau government is planning to quietly introduce new measures to rubber-stamp the approval of many asylum seekers — including people from dangerous and war-torn countries who may pose a threat to Canada’s national security. It goes on to state that, under the new forthcoming process, “certain claims identified by the RPD as straight forward will be scheduled for a short hearing.”

That process would mean that “certain claims may be approved without a hearing” and instead would be rubber-stamped based on a “paper-based only” application.

I'm feeling more secure already.

Liberal Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan has offered "clarification" after claiming to be the “architect” of a major Canadian military offensive in Afghanistan almost a decade ago. It doesn’t appear that the comments were a slip of the tongue. The reference to being "the architect of Operation Medusa" was contained in the prepared text.

“Major Sajjan certainly wouldn’t have been the chief planner,” Military historian Jack Granatstein said in a phone interview. “That he would say such a thing in a public address is bizarre. This is going to make people think he’s a little bit deluded.”

It’s a puzzling misstep, too, since Sajjan’s service in Afghanistan had already given him plenty to boast about without stretching tales.

A Tale of Two Bills

Assume for these purposes that all of the accusations in both cases are true.

For one Bill (O'Reilly), these are accusations of failed jokes, allegedly inappropriate looks, allegedly condescending remarks, and, in the most recent case that brought matters to a head, an invitation to a hotel room which was declined and not pursued further.

For the other Bill (Clinton), it is accusations of rape, blatantly improper sexual contact including with a young intern and a babysitter, numerous instances of forcible contact and groping, and attempted seduction.

And don't get me started on spawn of Hillary...

TORONTO -- Two Canadians are the latest addition to the United State's list of most-wanted terrorists that says the men are a threat to American national security and economic interests. The decision to add 24-year-old Farah Mohamed Shirdon and 30-year-old Tarek Sakr to the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists was published Wednesday in an official register of U.S. government regulations.

In an online bulletin, the State Department identifies Sakr as a Syrian-born Canadian citizen who has conducted sniper training for the Al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusrah Front.

Yup... as Canadian as maple syrup, er... slicing off a woman's clitoris.

The victim was found without vital signs, suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West around 9:40 p.m. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

The homicide unit has been called in to investigate the shooting, which sent a crowd of people running and screaming through the lot as they tried to escape the gunfire.

A man has been taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries after a shooting in Rexdale. The shooting happened at around 6:10 p.m. in the parking lot of a building in the Martin Grove Road and Betteridge Lane area, Toronto police said.

Minutes later, police received another call about a shooting victim at a store in the Kipling Avenue and Dixon Road area. Toronto police said they believe the victim from the first scene was driven a distance and then left in front of the store.

An attacker with an automatic weapon opened fire on police on Paris’ iconic Champs-Elysees Thursday night, killing one officer and seriously wounding two others before police shot and killed him.

Two police officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation, said the attacker had been flagged as an extremist.

Security forces are more widespread in Paris since deadly Islamic extremist attacks in recent years, and France remains under a state of emergency.
