Toronto police have released surveillance video and are appealing for the public's help in an attempted murder investigation in which shots were fired through the window of a North York restaurant.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his twenties to thirties, five-feet-seven to five-feet-nine inches tall, with a thin build and neck-length braided hair.

And...

Toronto homicide detectives say they believe that a young man who was shot dead in Midland Park last night may have been ambushed by people who were expecting him. He has since been identified by police as 21-year-old Kevaughn Morgan.

One of the suspects is described as being...

The RCMP charged Ayanle Hassan Ali, with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault causing bodily harm, three counts of assault using a weapon and one count of carrying a weapon dangerous to the public, all for the benefit of a terrorist organization.

Court documents identified the victims of the attack as Ryan Kong, Jesus Castillo and Tracy Ann Gerhardt.

What is known is that police responded to 911 calls reporting Abdi grabbing women’s breasts inside a Hintonburg coffee shop. Once police arrived, they found Abdi. Police Chief Charles Bordeleau said Monday that the man continued to be “assaultive.” He fled the area and police pursued. He was physically taken down by officers some 270 metres away on Hilda Street.

No use of force by police is captured on video. It’s not clear if Abdi was conscious or breathing when the video was filmed.

German media reported that the killing took place outside a restaurant where the woman worked as a cleaner. The driver, who was named as Alper K, 21, is thought to be the son of the restaurant owner.

The incident on Sunday was not the first time the man identified as 30-year-old Jenym Fletcher-Middleton had encountered the police.

In December 2011, he was wanted by the 11 Division Family Violence Unit for allegedly making threats against a woman and disobeying court orders.

Two years later, police issued a news release saying Fletcher-Middleton was wanted on allegations of assault, forcible confinement and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
