FROM THE SUN COMMENTS:
"There is something fishy about this story. I distinctly remember David Miller declaring Toronto a 'gun free' zone."

UPDATE2: CBC gets their investigation on
Jefflin Beals of Dartmouth, N.S., was described as a 23-year-old with a checkered past — a former all-star basketball player at Dartmouth High School who also had three convictions for drug possession, two for breaching release conditions and one for causing a disturbance by fighting.

It is unclear if both Beals are one and the same.
Hmmm... seems pretty clear to the local Halifax paper...
In May of 2009, he was charged with numerous weapons offences, fleeing from police, impaired driving, dangerous driving and refusing the breathalyzer. He was allegedly driving a car that fled from police at Windmill Road and Elmwood Drive and police found a Hi-Point CF-380 handgun in the vehicle.
