ONE GIGANTIC MILGRAM EXPERIMENT

We are all STASI now...insert alt text here
What has changed my thinking has been watching what is happening in America (and Canada and Australia and elsewhere, for that matter).

In Quebec this past weekend, as one can see on a viral video, a family was fined and members arrested because six • yes, six • people gathered to celebrate the new year.  A neighbor snitched on them, and the celebrants were duly arrested.

The Quebec government lauded the snitches and asked for more public “collaboration.”

The ease with which tens of millions of Americans have accepted irrational, unconstitutional and unprecedented police state-type restrictions on their freedoms, including even the freedom to make a living, has been, to understate the case, sobering.
BUT WAIT... IT GETS BETTER:
Quebecers intercepted by law enforcement outside their homes “without good reason” between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. will be subject to fines between $1,000 and $6,000 (CAD).

Premier Francois Legault scoffed at opposition to his criminalization of walking streets or trails between the hours of curfew. Prohibiting such walks is “about saving lives.”

In November, provincial authorities prohibited people living apart from visiting one another in their homes.

I'm from the government... I'm here to save you...

HONG KONG (AP) — The sudden arrest of dozens of pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong, in the most sweeping use of a new national security law to date, is a clear sign of Beijing’s determination to rein in political opposition in the former British colony.
