OKOTOKS, Alta. -- A courtroom erupted in cheers and applause Friday as all charges were dropped against a man accused of firing shots at suspected thieves on his rural property in southern Alberta.

"We've received information from a firearms expert and that information was compelling to say the least," said Crown prosecutor Jim Sawa, who wouldn't reveal what the evidence was.
This thing was a stinker right from the start...no disclosure
Apr 20, 2018 - Frustration permeated Okotoks provincial court as Edouard Maurice’s case was held over for the third time due to lack of disclosure.
And, it seems... the "lack of disclosure" continues.

The process, in this case, is indeed the punishment.

Maurice’s lawyer, Tonii Roulston, said the forensics report showed Watson was injured by a ricochet, not a direct shot aimed at the alleged intruder. Watson has been charged with trespassing at night, mischief to property, theft, drug and probation charges.
