Drunk driving not a "serious crime"...

...say Canadian lawmakers...
The Senate decided that the “serious criminality” designation for impaired driving should not apply to permanent residents and foreign nationals sentenced to less than six months in jail.

TORONTO - The death of 28-year-old Victoria Selby-Readman, found with obvious signs of trauma found inside a Queen St. W. apartment on Tuesday is now being investigated as a homicide. Investigators are not releasing the cause of death at the moment.
And...
Homicide detectives are investigating after a man died following an assault in Parkdale near Queen Street and Lansdowne Avenue at around 8:30 p.m.on Wednesday night.

"A five-year-old and a seven-year-old have been transported to Sick Kids Hospital after a shooting took place in Scarborough on Thursday evening. One patient was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are possibly life-threatening, while the second victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries."
