Meanwhile, organisers of the conference have denied reports that they snubbed controversial Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang.
Dr Tshabalala-Msimang has often told people with HIV to eat garlic, lemons and beetroot, while casting doubt on anti-retroviral drugs.
She has just returned to official duties this week after having a liver transplant.

let's also not forget that post apartheid south africa is the rape and murder capitol of the world.
there's a total breakdown of social controls combined with a massive lack of education and technology.
the traditional native african belief in "bad juju" has contributed to this. for instance, there's a widespread belief that having sex with a virgin will cure hiv/aids... leading to an unimaginable rise in child rape.
ten percent of the population reportedly infected... and they're rejecting western medicine for the local shaman.
