"The overview reveals a virtually identical homicide solving rate for Aboriginal women (88%) and non-Aboriginal women (89%). The study reveals that the rate of stranger perpetrated homicide against Aboriginal women is 8%, virtually the same as for non-Aboriginal women (7%).
Why does Kathleen Wynne not have a strategy for protecting women regardless of their ethnicity? Why wouldn't the government want to just help victims of violence... regardless of gender or ethnic origin?

Perhaps, instead, as government statistics suggest, society needs to be protected from aboriginal women...
Sapers pointed to statistics that show the total number of people incarcerated in federal institutions went down by 12 per cent between 1996 and 2004. But the number of native inmates increased 21 per cent in the same period.

Canada's minister for the status of women, Patty Hajdu, suggests [via anecdotal evidence supplied by aboriginal activists] the number of missing and murdered indigenous women could be as high as 4,000, but (and I'm quoting verbatim here) "a dearth of hard data" means it's all but impossible to pinpoint an accurate figure.
Hmmm... a "dearth of hard data," Patty? For true?

You mean like that unsubstantiated argle-bargle that some "Social Justice Warrior" just pulled out of her capacious, sainted, yet uberly-objective ass? You just might want to do a little more research...
A 2014 report by the RCMP concluded 1,017 aboriginal women had been slain between 1980 and 2012, and that another 164 were considered missing.
This report, of course, is utterly unacceptable. Apparently, the rookie minister is convinced the RCMP is is fiddling the books, her theory being that police departments will lowball murders because, well... racism.
Hajdu, who represents Thunder Bay–Superior North, said the 4,000 number is more believable because there is a history of police underreporting homicides, or failing to investigate suspicious deaths.
I dunno, Patty... if I'm a high ranking police bureaucrat, it's way more likely I'm gonna push these statistics as high as possible, to reinforce my case for a larger operating budget in the next fiscal year.

Regardless, the Natural Governing Party has decided instead, to go with the anecdotal "evidence" (a contradiction in terms if I ever heard one) supplied by, surprise, surprise... an aboriginal lobby group.
"Very often many families, because of negative interactions in the past, because of racism, have not in fact reported when a loved one goes missing," Dawn Lavell-Harvard, the president of Native Women's Association of Canada said in an interview with CBC News on Monday.
How does that even make sense? You don't report a crime because, what... the cops might solve it?

To further confuse the issue, perennial weeper and Librano spokes-dupe Carolyn Bennett then issued a statement that directly contradicted Ms. Lavell-Harvard...
Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Carolyn Bennett said many families of missing or murdered indigenous women want police to dust off cold cases, or actually launch investigations.
So, which is it ladies... we won't report crimes... or we are working frantically to get the cops get off their asses and investigating?

That's so strange, I mean Canadians in general and Newfies specifically, well... they love their dogs, they're like members of the family. Why would anyone refuse... wait a minute... what do those infamous Islamophobes over at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind have to say?
When it comes to cabs, many companies point out that drivers who are Muslim do not want contact with dogs because Islamic tradition sees them as unclean. But critics argue that carrying dogs comes with the job description for taxi drivers.
Is this Muslim/Dog argle-bargle even a real thing?
Jamal Badawi, a Halifax Imam and religious studies professor emeritus at St. Mary’s University, said there is nothing in the Qur'an or Muslim teachings that says dogs are to be avoided.
Hmmm... that isn't stopping the Islamic "community" from using it to avoid security checks the rest of us have to go through...

Toilet routines differ, and Islamic culture has detailed toilet etiquette. Islamic countries traditionally use water to wash. The myreligionislam.com website lists 20 rules and practices "to be followed when answering the call of nature." One rule stipulates using fingers to clean oneself, and "if there are still traces," washing them with water. Cleaning the private parts "with stones and similar materials" is regarded as an "acceptable substitute for cleaning them with water."

Other rules forbid talking, singing, smoking or reading the paper while on the toilet. People are also advised to enter the bathroom left foot first, while exiting with the right.

Senator Bernie Sanders beat Hillary Clinton among nearly every demographic group in the Democratic New Hampshire primary, according to exit polls. And, though Mrs. Clinton lost nearly every income group, she did carry voters in families earning over $200,000 per year.
So, Hillary supporters are mostly wealthy, elderly white folk. Where are the "social justice warriors" when you really need 'em?

**********

UPDATE2: Dems now eating their young?
The Nation’s Joan Walsh, a frequent MSNBC contributor and high-profile Hillary supporter is suggesting that white working class Democrats have moved away from Hillary because she served in the cabinet of a black president. This is a bizarre strategy from Team Hillary, especially after the catastrophic results from New Hampshire Tuesday night, where Hillary lost the woman vote to 195 year-old socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

To their face, Hillary asks for their votes and pledges to make their lives better. Behind their back, Team Clinton is smearing working class Democrats as racist

Three other women told me similar stories, supported by evidence, of manipulation and entrapment. Ghomeshi would establish an electronic paper trail before the alleged violence took place and would make efforts to continue a correspondence afterwards. It followed a pattern.
Indeed, it did.

The first shooting took place at around 1 a.m. near a shisha lounge in the area of Airport and Derry Roads in Mississauga. Paramedics found the victim, identified by police as 17-year-old Sharmarke Farah, with life-threatening injuries. He died on the way to hospital.

Const. Bally Saini said officers arrested one person for firearms-related offences, but that person is not a suspect in Farah’s death.

Now, almost a year after the killing of Teresa Robinson, 11, in a remote northern Manitoba First Nation community and under pressure to solve the case, RCMP investigators are trying to gather DNA samples from about 2,000 local men and boys.

The DNA sweep comes as Ottawa is gathering feedback on the design and scope of a national inquiry into the 1,200 indigenous women and girls who have been murdered or went missing in the past 30 years.

Aboriginal women make up only four per cent of Canada’s female population, but accounted for 16 per cent of all women murdered in 1980-2012.

Parallel to the findings of the 2014 Overview in which most homicide victims had a previous relationship with the offender, the 2013 and 2014 RCMP data reveals that the offender was known to the victim in 100% of the solved homicides of Aboriginal women in RCMP jurisdictions, and in 93% of cases of solved homicides of non-Aboriginal women.

Violence within family relationships is a key factor in homicides of women, and has prompted the RCMP to focus intervention and prevention efforts on familial and spousal violence.

Don't understand why Henein is giving up the current news cycle.

Can only speculate that either Marie Henein has compromising evidence and she's letting the witness stew about it overnight... or this was a bluff and she expected DeCoutere to narc herself out.

The only other possibility that suggests itself, is that Henein feels these emails are so deleterious to prosecution case that Lucy D. would fold completely (hard to imagine, I admit) and refuse to return to court.

I guess I'm stumped. Tune in tomorrow.

Oh my gawds, here's a scorcher... according to the Toronto Sun, yet another "talented [music] producer and artist" was brutally and inexplicably cut down in his artistic prime.

Hmm... that's weird... I've never actually heard of Quinn Taylor... even on those those fawning CBC radio programmes that shove multiculturalism up your white-privileged patootie a nickel at a time. I wonder what will happen to Quinn's budding rap music empire... oh, wait... here's an update from the Toronto Star...
"He was transitioning from living with his mother to living with a girlfriend..."
Transitioning, huh? That sounds way more impressive than filling a garbage bag with clothes and grabbing a bus to Rexdale.

All that said, I've actually learned something here... apparently posting homebrew rap music videos to Youtube from your Mom's livingroom qualifies anyone and their homies to be the next "Suge Lite." Word, bro.

Back at the Sun, the father-in-law of David Eminess, the other man killed, says that David had "gone out for a drink" and “some Chinese food." He was going to "bring some home for us to eat.”

The timing of the murder, which happened way after the witching hour on a cold winters morning seems to suggest otherwise. Most of the pre-shoot reporting so far has the two dead men and a now wounded third party standing around socialising on Spadina Avenue... seemingly unconcerned about any sort of food run.
David Eminess, 26, and Quinn Taylor, 29, were out front of the New Ho King restaurant on Spadina Ave., south of College St., along with a third man when the gunfire erupted around 3:15 a.m.
It's actually way closer to breakfast than dinner time here. How long, exactly, are you gonna just sit around waiting for your hypothetical take out?

Well, if that spring roll story doesn't work for you, (according to the CBC) the family has another one...
Christian Promesse, Eminess's brother-in-law said Eminess had gone to the area to watch a game and get a drink. He said the police told him that there was a crowd of people and a fight broke out, and that Eminess got caught in the crossfire.
Well, wait a minute, Christian... that's not what CTV & insideToronto news is saying...
"Speaking to media on Tuesday, Feb. 2, Toronto police Staff Insp. Greg McLane said it appeared the two murdered men, 26-year-old David Eminess and 29-year-old Quinn Taylor were targeted by their attacker."
Additionally, Mr Eminess is described variously by different media outlets as a student and also as someone supporting his young family with odd jobs.

Yes, it's a tragedy when anyone is cut down before their time, but instead of tugging at people's heartstrings with references to fatherless toddlers, non-existent careers and 3am tipples... perhaps we could see a little journalism? How about a description of the shooter for starters? Oh right, this is Canada... that's definitely off-limits.

Just colour me sceptical... Chinatown at three in the morning is not the place where anybody's dreams come true. Unless you're a junkie or a ten dollar whore you'd be way better off at home with Netflix and a cold beer. Even the cops travel in pairs in that neighbourhood. No wonder the mainstream media is going the way of the dinosaurs.
