Band of Brothers

The military has identified the four Canadian soldiers killed in a blast that also killed a journalist.

They are Sgt. George Miok, 28, Cpl. Zachery McCormack, 21, both of Edmonton, Sgt. Kirk Taylor, 28, of Yarmouth, N.S., and Pte. Garrett Chidley, 21, of Cambridge, Ont.
They will be remembered.

Bury my Heart... on Bullshit Mountain

"There is no list of over 500 murdered and missing white women killed by indigenous men, there is however a list of over 500 murdered and missing indigenous women, most of those women were killed by white men."

"I am inviting a lot of the families of murdered and missing women to be standing on the road with pictures of them," Roseau River Anishnabe First Nation Chief Terry Nelson said by phone Wednesday.
Uh, Terry... I think I'm gonna want to have a look at that list. I mean, if you've actually got the names of 500 "white" murderers... maybe you oughta be turning them over to the police.

And, while you're at it... how about some pictures of all the dead children as well...
"The rate of deaths from injuries is 3 to 4 times higher for Aboriginal children than for other children in Canada."

Source: Government of Canada (2002) Healthy Canadians – A Federal Report on Comparable Health Indicators 2002. Ottawa: Health Canada.
You gonna try blame that one on the evil white man too?

And hey... not to be too much of a pain in the ass... you might wanna say something about the absolutely unacceptable rates of substance abuse, domestic violence and homicide... right there in the aboriginal communities.
"The average death rate on reserves for the decade ending in 2002 was more than seven times the national average."
You think that might just have something to do with some of those murdered and missing women?

Finally, I've gotta say, I don't understand why this hysterical ranter is some kind of media spokes-native...
"There are only two ways of dealing with the white man.

One, either you pick up a gun, or you stand between the white man and his money," Terry Nelson of the Roseau River First Nation told CTV Newsnet's Mike Duffy Live on Tuesday.
Good grief... this is the aboriginal community's "best & brightest"?

No wonder they're so messed up.

I guess killing an uppity kuffar woman...

The names of the dead soldiers won't be released until their families have been notified.

Government lawyers acknowledged early on that normal policing, where officers conduct investigations and make arrests in a timely manner, didn't happen during the occupation.

Both Queen's Park and the OPP were concerned that “provocative action” by the police could escalate the crisis, and relied instead on special guidelines for “aboriginal critical incidents.”
"Provocative action"... like, you know... enforcing the law of the land.
In practice the policy led to bald-faced two-tiered policingstrict, arguably over-enforcement of the law for non-natives, virtually none for natives – which infuriated Caledonia residents and emboldened the most lawless of the protesters.

Try imagine the horrified outrage... if Toronto Police had fatally tasered 62 people in 2009...

A young man was found shot to death in the street outside a west Toronto pizza shop on Tuesday night.

A TTC driver led emergency crews to the scene, on Gilmour Ave. in the Dundas St.-Runnymede Rd. area, shortly before 10 p.m.

The victim has not been identified and police are looking for two suspects.

It is the city's 62nd murder of 2009.
**********

UPDATE: Who's zoomin' who?
The deceased was identified as Kenneth Mark of Toronto.
And guess what he was murdered for...
A 29-year-old man shot in the back of the head in the Junction last night may have been targeted because he was a police community liaison, investigators said today.

Kenneth Mark was found on Gilmour Avenue just north of Dundas Street West; he had stopped for pizza en route to a nearby Wal-Mart, where he was night manager. Police said he was wearing headphones and likely didn’t hear anyone as he was approached from behind.

Paramedics performed CPR for 20 minutes before taking him to hospital, where he later died.

‘‘He was the salt of the earth,’’ said Detective Hank Idsinga, the homicide officer in charge of the investigation, who said Mr. Mark had no criminal record and had done ‘‘some community work,’’ for police in the neighbourhood.

Mr. Mark has reportedly recently stopped some young men from entering a nearby housing complex with a gun, which investigators say may have been the motive behind the shooting.

Witnesses have described two suspects — both black men in their 20s wearing dark clothing.

Lets just cut off foreign aid entirely, huh?

The next time the so-called "loyal Opposition" starts screaming about Stephen Harper supporting the corrupt Karzai administration... you might wanna remind them that the word corrupt applies to pretty much the rest of the third world.

-- ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's top court struck down a 2007 decree protecting President Asif Ali Zardari and other senior officials from past graft charges, in a ruling that could lead to a challenge to the legitimacy of his election.
And we're not just talking a couple of shady, under the table transactions here. President Zardari, the husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, was known in Pakistan as "Mr Ten Percent"... the amount of vig he reputedly skimmed off every deal he was ever involved in.

So what's the deal here? Well... it's a brazen "get out of jail free" doddle that would have made Jimmy Hoffa blush.
The amnesty decree, known as the National Reconciliation Ordinance, was introduced in October 2007 by then-President Pervez Musharraf as a part of a deal -- brokered by the U.S. and Britain -- which allowed former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to return from exile for elections.

The decree released thousands of politicians and bureaucrats from charges of graft and other offenses.
And truthfully, worldwide... Pakistan isn't even on the top ten offenders list. And, to its credit, the Pakistani court system has actually risen up struck down this egregiously self-serving law.

The fact is, if Canada pulled back financial aid from every country that was riddled with graft, corruption & human rights abuses... we'd be well on our way to reducing our own national debt.

That, of course, is not how we operate. We, as Canadians, do what we can to effect positive change and swallow back the bile... knowing that the governments of most, if not all of these countries use most, if not all of our aid money to line their own pockets. In Afghanistan, we've gone further... committing the lives of our brave soldiers... to try turn a savage medieval theocracy into a semblance of a functional democratic state.

Where Al Gore goes to get...

So as we can see, of all the stations available in the antarctic, GHCN has chosen to use a single station on the Antarctic Peninsula to represent an entire continent of the earth for the past 17 years.

But it’s not just any station, it’s a special one. Rothera Point has the single highest trend of any of the adjusted station data.

I’m sick to death of advocate scientists pretending there are only minimal problems in the temperature record. Currently the ‘homogenized’ value added version of GHCN has a trend that is EIGHT times higher than actual for the ENTIRE ANTARCTIC CONTINENT.

So I wonder if we can now, spend some of the ‘BILLIONS OF DOLLARS’ on cleaning up the temperature record!!! It’s no coincidence that AGW scientists aren’t demanding this be done in my opinion either.

The man was shot while on Edwin Avenue at Dupont Street, just east of Dundas Street West, at around 12:30 a.m. Police say the bullet hit the man in the forehead but inflicted non life-threatening injuries. He spent the night in hospital having surgery.

Another Hogtown Homicide

The murder of a 62-year-old woman is just the latest in a series of violent incidences to befall the seventh floor of a Dundas St. W. and Scarlett Rd. apartment building.

Antonia Catherine Zammit was found dead early this morning in her seventh-floor unit at 3725 Dundas St. W.

Directly across the hall is where 14-year-old Adrian Johnston lived with his mom until he was shot and killed in May. And just this Friday, a shooting just down the hall left a bullet hole in the door frame of the garbage room.

A man said to be Zammit's son, John Boukhalfa, 26, was investigated by police just before midnight Sunday in the Lakeshore Blvd. W. and Windermere Ave. area.

Shauna Wilton, a professor of political science at the University of Alberta, also highlighted the class divide which sees Thomas and his friends at the bottom of the social ladder and the wealthy Fat Controller at the top.
Hey, Professor... here's a thunderbolt... why not write about an actual living, breathing child of privilege... who serially crapped all over his family, friends and professional associates?

Yeah... that's what I thought.

The crime spree escalated from August onwards.

The Liberal-dominated Senate voted yesterday to remove the mandatory minimum sentence requirement for some drug offenders from Conservative legislation - for the first time substantially altering a key plank in the government's tough-on-crime agenda.

The amendments come six months after the bill was passed in the House of Commons with the support of Liberal MPs, but only weeks before the Liberals lose their majority in the Senate, and with it their ability to change government legislation.

How does that song go?

"I believe solar panels are our future..."

-- COPENHAGEN -- National aid budgets dedicated to reducing global poverty would be raided to establish a “climate fund” to help developing countries to adapt to climate change, under a British plan tabled yesterday in Copenhagen.

Money earmarked for education or health would be diverted into projects such as solar panels and wind farms.
But hey... that's just the way the infanticidal polar bear bounces, right Al?
Oxfam estimates that diverting aid to the climate fund will mean at least 75 million fewer children attending school in developing countries and 8.6 million fewer people having access to HIV/Aids treatment.

A 28-year-old man was shot to death in northwest Toronto on Wednesday.

Toronto Police were called to a bar on Wilson Ave. just north of Hwy. 401 around 3 a.m. and found a wounded man in the bar area of a tavern. He was rushed to hospital and was last reported in serious condition.

A second man, who'd suffered obvious gunshots, was found sprawled on the parking lot outside the rear of the tavern and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The death is the city's 59th homicide of the year and the fourth in less than a week.

The GTA community of Brampton wasn't far behind, with a 35% increase in crash claims.
