Whewww... that's a relief

Mayor David Miller and his influential executive committee turned down a bid by councillors yesterday to hold public meetings on giving the mayor more power.

Instead the committee voted to refer the issue to the mayor's office.

Ms. Chao astutely observed. "Why don't they go after the gangs? Why don't they go after the illegal trafficking of firearms?"

Because it's easier, cheaper, quicker and more politically expedient to demagogue gun clubs and law-abiding citizens than address the myriad cultural issues that spawn gun violence.

...is at a loss for words.
"It depresses me, man, `cause, like, all you have is a pistol," says the other accused.
